About Us

The Sapphire Coast Outrigger Canoe Club (SCOCC) was affiliated in May 2021. The SCOCC is open to individuals aged eight and above, regardless of gender or experience, and our members are committed to doing our utmost to accommodate individuals with disabilities. We are a welcoming Club that caters for all levels of experience, from a complete novice through to an elite paddler. If you are interested in trying this sport, please join us for 6 free one-hour ‘Come and Try’ sessions at Pambula River mouth, or Mogareeka Inlet (Tathra).

For more information about this, or for experienced paddlers new to the area, please contact Peter Bowery (Club coach) on 0417155839, or email admin@sapphirecoastocc.com; use the Contact page for general enquiries, or refer to the Session Info page.

In October 2021 our Club gained a very generous sponsorship from Rob and Rob at Bega Valley Realty. Begavalleyrealty.com.au

Our sponsorship organiser Bev approached Bega Valley Realty and discussed possible support, and to our great surprise and delight they purchased us a canoe. They also had the canoe painted and repaired, purchased Club shirts and assisted in acquiring a trailer. MGM Panelbeaters undertook the painting and repairing and did an amazing job. We were grateful that they also sponsored us during our first year – Mgmbega.com.au

We are thrilled to still have the two Robs from Bega Valley Realty onboard as sponsors in 2024. They provided a major financial contribution in 2023 towards the purchase of another OC6 – the ‘Mirrabooka’, in addition to purchasing Club singlets for us, and paying for Council costs associated with leasing land at Mogareeka for the storage of our canoes.

The purchase of the light-weight ‘Mirrabooka’ craft enabled some of our more experienced paddlers to have a great canoe to train in prior to them competing in the Norfolk Island (NOC the ROCK) regatta which was an amazing opportunity. During the past three years, our experienced paddlers have also competed at other regattas including those at Wollongong, Mollymook, Port Stephens and Newcastle, in addition to competing at the International Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast. We intend to continue to be competitive and plan on entering many more regattas in the upcoming seasons, both within Australia and overseas.

We are currently considering what our next new venture will be in promoting the sport of outrigger canoeing.
