OUTRIGGING – such an amazing sport to take up! If you like being in nature, enjoy exercise and love meeting like-minded people, this sport is for you and is great for your mental health and wellbeing.
The Mission of our Club is to:
– provide a fun and inclusive environment, where everyone is made to feel welcome and valued
– offer the sport to people of all abilities, from novice to elite, through providing both social paddling and competitive / training sessions
– cater to all levels of experience, and support members to reach their potential by utilising the knowledge of our qualified Coach
– create a safe and supportive environment through fostering a culture of respect, integrity, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The Vision of our Club is to
– introduce and promote the sport of outrigging to as many people as possible throughout the Sapphire Coast
– improve both the physical and mental health of our members through combining their fitness with a sense of belonging in a stunning natural environment
– ensure that the health and safety of our members is at the forefront of everything we do, both on and off the water, through focusing on correct stroke technique; water and sun safety/protection (both on & off the water), and good manual handling procedures
– support the social, cultural, spiritual and recreational needs of the community through educating members about the outrigging sport including the history, culture, traditions and respect associated with it
– inspire motivation of individuals and encourage strong social connections with other like-minded people, thus supporting the quality of life in our community.
One location for our paddling sessions is at Pambula River mouth, which is one of the most stunning locations on the Sapphire Coast set in a natural bush setting with stunning crystal-clear turquoise waters. We have the luxury of choosing between paddling the enclosed waters up the river, or across the bar into the open waters of Merimbula Bay. Our other location for a great paddle is at Mogareeka Inlet, near Tathra (closer for people living in Bega).
